These terms govern your use of libregistry ("we," "our," "us"), including our website, API, and registry data. By using libregistry, you agree to these terms. If you're using libregistry on behalf of an organization, you're agreeing for that organization as well.
libregistry provides a registry of library compatibility data — install commands, import paths, environment testing results, and related metadata — accessible through our website and API. Some entries are empirically verified by running them in test environments; others are generated and not yet independently verified. Where we can, we label which is which.
You need a Google account to sign in. You're responsible for keeping your API key confidential and for all activity that occurs under it, whether initiated by you, a script, or an AI agent acting on your behalf. If you believe your key has been compromised, regenerate it immediately from your account page — this invalidates the old key right away.
We currently issue one API key per account, free of charge. We may introduce paid tiers or usage limits in the future; if we do, we'll give notice before any change affects your existing usage.
You may use libregistry's data and API for any lawful purpose, including in commercial products and AI agents. You may not:
We may suspend or terminate API access for accounts that violate these terms, without prior notice in cases of abuse.
This is important, so we're saying it plainly: libregistry's data — including "verified" statuses, compatibility results, install commands, and code samples — is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. Verified entries reflect the result of an automated test run at a specific point in time, on a specific environment; they are not a guarantee that a library will work correctly in your environment, at a later date, or with your specific configuration. Unverified entries may be inaccurate or outdated. You are responsible for testing and validating any code, command, or configuration before relying on it in production.
We work to keep verified data accurate and current, but we make no guarantee of completeness, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose.
libregistry catalogs metadata about third-party open-source libraries; we do not own or license the libraries themselves. Each library remains subject to its own license, as published by its maintainers. Check a library's own license before using it — libregistry's listing of a license type is informational and not a substitute for verifying it yourself.
We aim to keep libregistry available and reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service, including free-tier limits, with reasonable notice where practical.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, libregistry is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service or reliance on its data, including but not limited to failed deployments, broken builds, or downtime caused by acting on information from our registry.
If we make material changes, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Continued use of libregistry after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
